This is an epic fantasy story which just happens to have one gay MC (and two straight ones). Not m/m, not a romance. There is basically no romance for any of the 3 MCs. They are all disillusioned cynical and slightly bitter.
But it's well written, with an actual plot. The writing is technically excellent, and sets the dark mood of this story vividly.
Lots of verrrry delayed plot gratification. The 3 MCs don't get together until around the 85% mark.
I do want to read the rest of the trilogy (warning, book 3 not out until 2013), but will need a small break before starting book 2.
